I working on a project where there is a lot of legacy asp code and it
is uses encryption and server redirect to hide the url from the end
user. Since server.transfer does not allow query strings, perl was
used to implement the server redirect. Basically the perl script
decrypts the query string, creates a web client, accesses the web page
based on the query string and then displays the page to the user. I
know that there are a number of issues with this design, and that
there are a number of different ways to implement security, but what
currently exists works. I would love to redesign the site, but that
would not make any business sense.
Because of the skillsets within the company, management wants to get
rid of all perl code. In asp.net, is there a web client class that
can be used. This class will act as a simple web client, make a
request to a url and return the results as a string. If not built in
class, can someone point me in a direction, so I can build my own
class.
Thanks in advance,
Roger
