A bit OOTopic RAM question

Bei
When your computer manual says "expendable to 512 MB" ram, does that really
means you can't have more than 512 MB RAM in your computer?
My computer (uses chipset Intel 810E) has 2 memory slots which support
PC-100 SDRAM.

I am thinking when the computer was made 3 years ago, there was no 512 SDRAM
or 1GB SDRAM for sale, only 256 or less, so they said maximum ram in the
computer was 512 MB.

My computer right now have 512 MB RAM, but as you know, it's barely enough
to run XP Pro. Do you think if I can buy 2 512 SDRAM to replace what's in it
right now, my computer can use the new RAM?

Thanks for the help. I don't want to the waste money, so I think I would ask
first. Right now the only bottleneck in my computer is the RAM. If I can add
more memory, I don't need to buy a new computer.

Thanks

Yes. That is what it means.

You can slap more RAM, and you might find it will use it in bursts (no
guarantee), but it will not use the extra memory in sustained mode ... EVER.
You may find a BIOS upgrade that supports more memory, but a new computer is
probably the best path.

512MB is more than enough for XP Pro, BTW.
