retrieving xml strings from database, remove pi and build xml

Hi. I'm saving some short xml strings to a database field, e.g., Field1
(customer), Field2 (xml).

When I want to do a report on this data, I would do a SQL select on the
field criteria and end up with a bunch of xml strings from Field2. (each
has an xml processing instruction <?xml...?>, because I use them
throughout the process as xmlDocuments).

How would I string them together into one xml file for processing with
an xsl stylesheet?

Any clues/examples would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Kathy
