Server version of Windows XP

When I print out the Help files for an error, it says: "1. Make sure that
the Web server computer is running a server version of Windows 2000, Windows
XP, or Windows Server 2003.

At this point, I do not know if my PC is acceptable for programming Web
Applications.

Just exactly what does "a server version of Windows XP" mean? I have Windows
XP Professional w/SP2 and I have IIs and Front Page Extensions installed
using the "Add/Remove Components" and I have installed SQL Server 2000. Is
this enough for me to be able to create a Web Program in Visual Studio.NET
2003 Enterprise Developer Edition?

Thanks in advance for any help. Jim

If your running XP Pro with IIS then yes you can create web apps by using VS
..NET 2003. I'm running XP Pro and creating web sites on my local box by
using VS 2003, and VS 2005 and I just installed VS 2008 as well. So you
should be able to.

Yeah, I would translate that as "having IIS" enabled as well.

Which whacks something like XP-Home.

I can give others links to my local box..all the time, with XP Pro.

I don't think the error message was well written. It means "server version
of windows 2000" or windows xp, or Windows Server 2003.

IIS on Windows Xp works fine, but it only allows you to have one web site,
and there is a 10 connection limit. Ostensibly, this is to get you to pay
more money for a server OS.

I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work. Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000 Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having succeeded in doing it. I have tried...

When running my asp.net hosting service (asp.net without IIS), on server 2003 with IIS not installed, I get the following when trying to process a request. "System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL (aspnet_isapi.dll)." Of course the dll is able to be found, it's still in the framework directory and for grins I even put it in my service's local directory. This is apparantly server 2003 not allowing asp.net to be run if IIS was not...

Hi All! I have a ASP.NET 2.0 site that works on the Windows 2000 Server. However, when I tried to view this site on my local Windows XP machine, I get "Server Unavailable". If I switch the Windows XP IIS back to ASP.NET 1.1 then I get the Configuration Error (which is understandable because I'm trying to run an ASP.NET 2 site with 1.1 framework). I can however view other ASP.NET 1.1 sites on my local Windows XP machine. It's only the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
