creating and formatting text file

Tom
I have about 30 labels and textboxes on my web form and the user can input
data into the text boxes. Then they click a button and a text file needs to
be created. I can create the text file but how can I format the file as
such?

web form looks like this:

label textbox textbox label
label textbox textbox label
label textbox textbox label
label textbox textbox label
... and goes for about 20-30 rows
I need the the text File to be this same format:
label textbox textbox label
label textbox textbox label
label textbox textbox label
label textbox textbox label
. . . until the end of the file.

how can I get this format in mytext file?

Hello, I've written an asp.net application that creates Excel documents. It works by creating an excel document in XML format. But I wonder if I'm reinventing the wheel. I know that there are ways to read and write Excel files with ADO, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't provide the flexibility I need. I need to be able to generate tabs, cell formatting, formulas, etc.

Hi I'm reading an xml file into an XmlDocument, adding some nodes, and writing it back out. I would like the nodes I add to assume the same level of indeting as the rest of the document. (I load the document with PreserveWhiteSpace = true.) I thought I could do this by using an XmlTextWriter with Formatting set to Formatting.Indented, but this doesn't work. The Formatting.Indented on the XmlTextWriter only indents my output when I...

The internal clipboard...

I was wondering what anyone might suggest as "best practice" patterns for streaming out fixed formatted text files with C#? Let's say we get our data in a dataset table and we need to iterate over thousands..potentially tens of thousands of rows to create a properly formatted text file -- like an ACH file, for example. In there you typically have a header, a body block of detail rows and a trailer. (The trailers usually contain sums of the...

Hi, Is there any open source / demo code that shows how to create a simple Excel 97 or later file without resorting to Interop? My application currently creates a simple CSV file, but I would like it to be able to create an XLS file with a single workbook, and add simple attributes to the cells (color, font, value). Searched GotDotNet and Source Forge, but didn't find anything yet.

Hi, I have created CultureInfo object and specified required digit grouping in it. The one of the overloaded ToString methods of Decimal type has parameters to format the value with required custom format and a IFormatProvider. I pass a custom format string for positive, negative and Zero (3 sections) and CultureInfo object containing the required DigitGrouping as IFormatProvider. But ToString is not formatting the value using the digit...

This is NOT a complete OO perl tutorial However I thought it could be beneficial to explain some of the basic concepts, and allow some users to simplify the software design process. I have found it to be extremely useful and beneficial to create my own "custom" modules. It (among many other things) allows you to type less. Or to make your keystrokes matter more, however you look at it. (If you do even look at it.) Things the reader...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
