Showing footer in an empty GridView...

Hi,

I've spent the last hour trawling google for this - but all I find are
people asking the same question!

I have a gridview which is being databound to an empty datasource. I can
display the 'EmptyDataText' no problem, but the header and footer do not
display. The header I can live without - but the footer contains the 'Add
new item' form elements, so needs to be visible when the grid is empty.

Is there any (elegant) way to show the header/footer of an empty gridview?

Thanks in advance,

Stu

I can not get the horizontal gridlines to show up on a Gridview. I have changed the selection to both and horizontal with no sign of them. Also, when I set the Gridlines property to Vertical or Both, the Vertical lines show up but they are the wrong color. Which property controls the color of the gridlines? I have tried using a stylesheet to set the border of the rows, footer, and header but this does not work either. The page does not...

I have a GridView with paging enabled with controls set up in the footer for adding new rows. In one column, I have two related dropdown list controls, DrowDown B's list should change depending on the selected value in DropDown A. However, to maintain the viewstate of these control seems impossible. If I populate DropDown A when (If !IsPostBack), then DropDown A would be empty when I go to a different page of the GridView. But if I...

Well, I am trying to use the footer row of a GridView for insertion purpose. There are some articles about this, for example, the gridviewguy.com has an example, which always displays the footer row. I would like to display the footer row, only when a LinkButton "Add New" is clicked. And after the new record is saved to the database, let the footer row disappear. In the LinkButton's click event handler, I simply say:

I'm using a GridView inside a Wizard Control with a textbox and two listboxes in the footer. I populate these listboxes from the database if the page isn't on postback (and the textbox is left blank initially). All of these controls have viewstate enabled. When the user fills out the textfield and clicks ADD, I do a check for validation of the data. If the user does not select a valid listbox entry, I abort the rest of the add, and make...

Hi, I'm trying to get my DataGrid to show headers and footers when no rows are returned from the datasource. Below is code that shows the first TemplateField. Is there an easy way to get at least the footer to show? I want to be able to insert a new row using the footer. Thanks... <asp:GridView ID="gvMaterials" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataSourceID="dsMaterials" ShowFooter="True" Width="100%"

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
