Name of control

IN VWD, on an aspx page I have a DetailsView control. I have placed an
AccessDataSourc e (AccessDataSour ce3) in the EditItemTemplat e for the Row
called "Sex". I want to programatically change the datafile for the
AccessDataSourc e.

In the Page_Load event I try:

AccessDataSourc e3.DataFile =
System.Configur ation.Configura tionManager.App Settings["ConnString "];

And get the error: AccessDataSourc e3 does not exist in current context

When I click on AccessDataSourc e3, I see in the properties window the name
of the control is: DetailsView1.Fi eld1Sex.EditIte mTemplate.Acces sDataSource3

When I try:

DetailsView1.Fi eld1Sex.EditIte mTemplate.Acces sDataSource3.Da taFile =
System.Configur ation.Configura tionManager.App Settings["ConnString "];

I get the error:

System.Web.UI.W ebControls.Deta ilsView does not contain a definition for

How do I get the name of this control (AccessDataSour ce3) ?

Thanks in Advance for your help,

I am dynamically creating TextArea and drop-down lists in ASP.NET using something like HtmlTextArea eachTextArea = new HtmlTextArea(); I tried to set the "name" of these TextAreas, etc. (e.g. <textarea name="NameOfTextArea" rows="5" cols="60">some text area</textarea>), as I want to then dynamically read back the controls' values Setting the ID attributes doesn't work, nor does the following:...

Ok I have a control that is inherited from another class. In the child I put msgbox(me.name) in the load event. What always pops up is the name of the parent class and not the name of the instance of the object. WHY? Also if I can figure this out I'm hoping that I can put this in the load event of the parent and still get it to work.

I am working on a complex server control that dynamically creates an HtmlInputHidden control that stores its value. As far as the postback process is concerned, this hidden input acts as the control itself. So when I render, I generate a proxy HtmlInputHidden like so: protected virtual void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) { HtmlInputHidden hiddenInput = new HtmlInputHidden(); hiddenInput.ID = ClientID; hiddenInput.Name = UniqueID;

Hi I am developing scripts in C# which can be used to test windows based applications. I use Win32 API's to perform click operations etc. To uniquely identify a control in a window rather than using absolute position of a control I have been using Control-ids and captions of the control. But I found scenarios where the control-id was dynamic and the control didn't have a caption. What I mean by caption is the text of the control. A...

I have the name of a control in a string variable and I want to change one of the controls properties. Right now I recursively scan all the controls on the form until I get one whose name matches the name in my string variable, then I know I have the correct control and can proceed to change the property. However all that searching seems like overkill. Does anyone know of a way to directly access the control if it's name is in a string...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
