I have a barcode scanner which uses a "keyboard wedge" program so that the data it scans comes through as if it was typed on a keyboard. I am trying to have the data in the barcode be displayed in a text box. I know that there are certain control characters embedded in the data that I want to display substitutions for in the text box, for instance I want to replace ASCII character 04 with the string "<EOT>". I have tried doing a simple...

Using Visual Studio 2005. I'm using XmlReader to read data into a string variable in C#. Works great! Every once in a while, I see that the string data contains a symbol that looks like a square. Any suggestions on how to filter out characters that don't appear on a keyboard? I hate to let the end-user see these square characters. --

Hi there, I'm trying to do some predicting work over user input, here's my question: for pattern r'match me', the string 'no' will definitely fail to match, but 'ma' still has a chance if user keep on inputting characters after 'ma', so how do I mark 'ma' as a possible match string? Thanks a lot,

Hi, I'm trying to create Keys with different prefix characters for each product I have. So for every product requires a different prefix character, but the number will auto increment by itself when I add new records depending on which Product it is. So if I was to add another Mouse product in the future it would give it ID = B3

I am writing a curses application, but the getch() does not seem to give me all I want. Of course, if I press "d", it returns an ord("d") and so on. But I want to be able to detect whether alt, shift or ctrl has been pressed also. Shift is normally covered by returning an uppercase character instead and ctrl seems to return control codes (as is normal, I guess), but alt I can't detect with getch, it seems. Preferably, I would like one...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
