Dataset getXML and ReadXML

Hi I have a little bit of trouble, probably missing the point not sure

I have a dataset

dim ds as new dataset("User")

Which is populated with data from a database.

When I use

strXml = ds.GetXml()
strSchema = ds.GetSchema()

Then try and re-import into a data set, using the following

mXml = New
MemoryStream(En coding.GetEncod ing("UTF-16").GetBytes(s trXml))
mSchema = New
MemoryStream(En coding.GetEncod ing("UTF-16").GetBytes(s trSchema))

dim importDS as new DataSet("User")

importDS.ReadSc hema(mschema)

importDS.ReadXm l(mXml)

I find that the schema imports correctly however the the ReadXML line
throws and exception, checking the XML I can't see anything wrong with
it, as it just a direct output from getXML

[XmlException: An unexpected end of file parsing NAME has occurred.
Line 1, position 2.]

I am using :

Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.432 2.2032; ASP.NET
Version:1.1.432 2.2032

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello, I have a WebService that sends a client a DataSet as XML (I use a DataSet.GetXml to get the XML). The DataSet is filled by a DataAdapter in the WebService. The client coverts the XML Back to a DataSet (using StringReader sr = new StringReader(xml); DataSet ds = new DataSet(); ds.ReadXml(sr)). The client then makes changes to this DataSet, and sends the dirty dataset back to the WebService using another GetXml on 'ds'. The...

I must be doing something obvious wrong here, but: I perform a query to retrieve a dataset - I want to archive this in a SQL field for seperate retrieval later, while the original data may have moved on - so I write it to a string of XML using ds.GetXML(). I then write that string to the DB, into 1 'text' type field. (I know the data will never get over a certain size) Later I read that field and retrieve the data as a string and...

I have used XMLDataToString = DataSetForXML.GetXml() to get an XML string from a dataset. I am looking for a way to create a dataset from this XML string. I tried DataSetForXML.ReadXml(XMLDataToString) but I received error messages. Does anyone know how to do this without creating a file (disk copy) of this XML data? Thanks for your help. Marc

I have a SQL2005 XML column I load into a DataSet. I then bind to a DataGrid. If I set an asp:Literal text value to the DataSet.GetXml() when I first load it into the DataSet, it displays correctly. If I later try to display the XML content in the asp:Literal control, then I get "<NewDataSet />". Why is that? Why can't I get the actual XML back from the DataSet? I'm new to DataSets, so I'm probably just missing something basic. Here's...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
