Obtaining what Web Server is running the WebSite

Hi,
Is it possible to determine what web server is running a website, if so how?
Also is it possible to determine if the web site is running locally or
remotely.

Thanks

Yup. What information do you want? Machine name, IP address, or Domain name?

If you're in the same building, it's running locally. Otherwise, it's
running remotely. IOW, what coordinate system is "local" and what coordinate
system is "remote?" Local and remote are relative terms. If I call someone
in Virginia Beach, it's a local call. If my 101-year-old grandmother in
Arizona calls the same person, it's long distance.

You should be able to see enough data from response headers.

You can often use this to get the server info.

Label1.Text = Request.ServerV ariables("Serve r_Software")

I've just bought a new Windows Server 2003 and I am trying to move an exiting FrontPage website to this new machine. I can't get ASP pages to run. IIS 6.0 has been installed. From the snap-in, I have configured "Web Services Extensions" to allow CGI Extensions, ISAPI Extensions, Active Server Pages, FrontPage Server Extensions 2002, Internet Data Connector, Server Side Includes and WebDAV. All of this appears to be running fine.

I'm running a resource-intensive stored procedure, which reads a file with about 50,000 lines with a BULK INSERT into a temp table, then goes through it and inserts a record for each line into another table. While this procedure is running, SQL server stops accepting any other requests coming from the website. Question: Is there a way to make SQL server "listen", or emulate an "interrupt" to other requests while in the middle of a long...

Hi I am running exactly the same ASP code on IIS 5.0 and IIS 6.0 I am calling Server.MapPath(), the parameter is a virtual path that includes a reference to a parent path ("Root/Files/../Config/"). 'Config' is a virtual directory under 'Root' which is also a virtual directory. 'Files' is a normal folder. Under IIS 5.0, the path is correctly mapped to the local path of the

Hi All! I have a ASP.NET 2.0 site that works on the Windows 2000 Server. However, when I tried to view this site on my local Windows XP machine, I get "Server Unavailable". If I switch the Windows XP IIS back to ASP.NET 1.1 then I get the Configuration Error (which is understandable because I'm trying to run an ASP.NET 2 site with 1.1 framework). I can however view other ASP.NET 1.1 sites on my local Windows XP machine. It's only the...

I am having trouble creating a web site on a server running sharepoint services. I am creating an ASP.Net website using Visual Studio 2005. The server I am trying to create it on is a Windows 2003 server. From what I understand I need to exclude in sharepoint services the folder where the application will be deployed. I have done this in the Define Managed Paths section of the Sharepoint management site, but it has no effect. Even after...

Hi, The current scenario is that I have an iframe inside an asp.net web page where I periodically check the url inside the iFrame. I know that all this information can be obtained in the client-side during a page load. Does anyone know an efficient way to obtain the current url of the src attribute of the iFrame? Or if there is a better solution? Many thanks

Hello, Please read this all before giving an answer :) I'm doing some troubleshooting on a web application that my company wrote. It's written in asp.net 1.1. The error that the Event viewer gives is: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

Hello all: Most of my development for websites has been on test VPC images where VS is installed on the server image. I now have a setup where I have a test server joined to my domain, and a development PC also joined to the domain. On the server I created a new website on port 99 called "dev", and then on the development PC I tried to create a new http website using http://testserver:99/testwebsite, however I get an error message...

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
