Crystal Report Permissions

Consider this approach:

Embed the report in your project (add it to the project)

Then put this code in the page that holds the viewer
control

'Set the connection information
crConnectionInf o.ServerName = "servername "
crConnectionInf o.DatabaseName = "dbname"
crConnectionInf o.UserID = "user"
crConnectionInf o.Password = "pass"

'Set the report up
Dim crReportDocumen t As New yournameofrepor t
'Set the database to the report
crDatabase = crReportDocumen t.Database
crTables = crDatabase.Tabl es

'loop through the tables of the report
For Each crTable In crTables
crtablelogoninf o = crTable.LogOnIn fo
crtablelogoninf o.ConnectionInf o = crConnectionInf o
crTable.ApplyLo gOnInfo(crtable logoninfo)
Next

'Set the report in the viewer
crvMain.ReportS ource = crReportDocumen t

crvMain.ReportS ource = New yournameofrepor t
crvMain.Selecti onFormula = "???"

crvMain.Display GroupTree = False
crvMain.BestFit Page = True
crvMain.Refresh Report()

This works great if your database is MSSQL, you might
have to tweak the connection info if your using a
different database. Search on Seagates (Crystal Reports)
site for dynamically connecting to a database and you
will find this same logic. Hope this helps.

I have a crystal report file that I am loading and viewing through ASP .NETusing the crystalreportvi ewer control. Whenever I run the report I getprompted with the Win2K network logon dialog. What's strange is as I amprompted to login to the server the report continues to run and actuallydisplays the results of the report behind the prompt. Logging in makes theprompt go away but doesn't seem to have any affect on the report being run.I have given the ASPNET and IUSER_<machinen ame> user accounts permissions tothe folder in which the report lives and have tried about everythingpossible permissions wise with no luck. The website allows anonymousaccess.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion.

I was actually able to solve my problem but created another one in the
process. When I created the web setup package to install all the crystal
stuff on my server it created the virtual directory
CrystalReportWe bFormViewer2. As a result, when I loaded a report I would
get prompted for a network login but the report and crystal toolbar icons
would still display. If I rename the virtual directory to just
CrystalReportWe bFormViewer I no longer get the network login dialog but the
toolbar icons don't show up because they are pointing to the
CrystalReportWe bFormViewer2 virtual directory. Alas, I can't find anywhere
on the server where the toolbar would reference the
CrystalReportWe bFormViewer2 path.

Thanks again

Hello all Haven't worked with Crystal since the VB 4 days. Now for the first time I'm trying to create a report in a .net/vb project using SQL 2000 for the Database. When I add the Crystal report to my project and right click, go to database, then select Add/Remove Database, I get "no items found" in my ADO.NET Datasets. I have the Data connection established, I can view it in my server explorer. I can access the data with everything...

Hi wise people, Has anyone encountered the Crystal Reports problem I describe below? If so, how did you solve it? It seems that every article posted on google regarding CR and logon problems is still unanswered. I think I'm cursed. I originally created a crystal report which connects to a sql server server db on the same dev machine and it worked just fine. I tried to move it to another computer, but now I have to connect to an Oracle...

Hi! I need to deploy .NET application (ADO.NET + Crystal Reports) in local intranet. All assemblies of application will be shared in the folder on the server so all users can execute this application on their pc from that folder. (of course I need to apply some .NET security permissions). So I've got two questions: what is the best way to install crystal reports engine on users pc? what kind of problems may occur in such enviroment ?

Hi, we have a asp (vb) .net www app which use crystal reports to produce output from a sqlserver 2000 database. The asp pages work fine up to the point where it is required to generate a crystal report. Before this point it has queried the database and populated listboxes on an asp .net page so its not a datbase issue. The error we get is: =========== Exception Details: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LogOnException: Logon failed.

I'm developing an VB.NET Windows Forms application that uses CR for VS.NET (original version shipped with VS.NET 2002 - my VS.NET has the latest SP installed, no SPs for CR). My reports get their data from ADO.NET Datasets that are pre-populated by other modules of the application. What I need to do is to use these datasets as the datasources of my reports. Fine, I know how to do that and it works perfectly on my development box. The...

Hi there. I'm a bit of a newbie, and I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me on an error I'm getting with Crystal Reports. Every time I attempt to view a report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get a "Load Report Failed" error, and I'm not sure what I can do to resolve it. I know it's not the connection to the data -- I'm able to get a datagrid to display the data just fine after filling a dataset. I tried searching the...

Normally you have to add NETWORK SERVICE with permissions but we use Windows Authentication with...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
