How to use Server.HTMLEncode inside response.write

Am trying to execute the below code,
"Response.Write(Server.HTMLEncode(string))"...
And i am getting some HTML code is visible in the asp screen... I want to know how to use Server.HTMLEncode inside response.write in a proper way ?
