access module LOCKED & unviewable

I have MS Access 2000 (no other versions involved) and can't open my
Modules. Clicking on a Module gives me a "Project Locked", "Project is
unviewable" message.

I'm the only programmer / user on my personal PC and have no idea how
my code got locked. I've installed no programs nor altered any
settings. Could automatic Windows updates from MS cause this?

What can I do?

Can you view the file's extension from your Explorer window?

Make certain your file IS NOT a compiled one, a file with a ".mde" extension. It's easy to mistake the two of them if your Explorer window view mode hide files' extensions.

Ordinary MS Access (.mdb) files have the same icon as the compiled files (.mde) but the latter are compressed and secured, i.e. code is unviewable :)
