In a web page when the user clicks submit button i link the onCLick event to a function. Now I have to validate the data and submit or cancel the form submission. How to do that?

Hi,

In the function for validation-- if data is valid then return true else return false.
and on click event call function as follows:
onclick="return validateform();"
where validateform() is function name to validate the form.
function validateform()
{
if (//condition for validation)
return true;
else
return false;
}
If function returns true only then form will be submitted.

I think it should work.
