Formatting month and day to 2 digits

I've built a page that has a date box in it and have used javascript code to make a calender to insert a date into the box but on some dates the day and month are single digits e.g. 1/1/2008 (want it to be 01/01/2008) - is there a way to convert the date to my prefered format in asp? (it could be done in javascript but I'm not very knowledgable with it!)

The basic asp function is formatdatetime(date,format), this is the only built in ASP function I know of that formats dates. Format 0 and 2 should produce mm/dd/yy but I believe they will shorten months or days to one digit if appropriate, so that probably doesn't help. you could check what the other formats are, but there isn't a lot, and as far as I remember that is the closest to what you are asking.
