Possible to place ASP 'Tokens' in body of html file to get value from external file?

I'm wondering if there is such a way, without using javascript, to place a piece of text like a token, or identifier, that will get it's value from an outside source, such as a text file.
So if I make a standard link using html, I want the link text to be a token that uses a line of the same name on an external file to get its value.

For example:

a href=mysite TOKEN1 a
a href=mysite TOKEN2 a

etc.

Anyone know of anything like this?

Thanks,
Stan

ps, the html markup looks funny, because I wanted you to see the actual markup, not have the links.

Stan,

you can go ahead and write the code and put it in [code] tags, that is what it is provided for.

yes, a simple include could accomplish this with limited options (just includes the entire content of another file), or so could an asp function. The function could open up the external file with the fileSystemObject and a textStream object. Then the function could generate a link or insert a link based on the contents of the file. There are limitless ways you could set this up.
