There are two ways of doing this and it generally depends on how many DOC files you want to upload.
If it's less than 2GB in total, and you want a bit more control over your files, I would recommend storing the files in the database itself as this gets around having to manipulate the server file system (which is somewhat more complicated in terms of code requirement).
If it's more than 2GB but you still want that level of control, try a SQL Server of some kind (MySQL, MSSQL, doesn't matter) and I'll post back some sample code about streaming the file input to a binary object field.
If you just want to upload the file to a folder on your web server, there's a great piece of sample code at

Or, if you fancy your hand at ASP.NET, it has built-in file upload handling capabilities (which might save you a lot of time and trouble - it did for me!).
