Using Variable in Xpath (used in asp)

Heyas!

im trying to modify xml element from asp using xpath query

it looks like this:

Set objField2 = objRoot2.selectSingleNode("book[serial=1017]/quantity")

this works for me fine, the problem is that i cant figure out how i can replace the constant number 1017 with a variable

something like this:

pureSerial=1017

Set objField2 = objRoot2.selectSingleNode("book[serial=pureSerial]/quantity")

and its just doesn't work

any ideas?
