urgent: how to know if the windows service is terminated?

P: 62
i would like to know as to how to check if windows service is terminated. if it is terminated then my web page should show some error message like "no communication". i have already set that message in my dataset.

I first set a string to FFFF and pass it to web service, which changes it to AAAA if it is FFFF and passes back to windows service. then in windows service i load my dataset and based on that value i set the value of dataset as "no communication" or something else.

when i run my program and the web page, everything works fine. but when i close my application program, the web page doesnt display the error message i want. i think it uses the last dataset value stored before termination of the windows service.

i have tried many different ways, but none worked for me.
please give me some solution.
