query help

I'm sorry if this is basic, but I am a newbie....

I am looking to variable content to my site by creating a link with a query string, say
http://someserver.com/somescript.php?test=1&type=54

and move the values in the strings to other hyperlink in my site, say

<a href="anotherserver.com/anotherscript.asp?id=test">
(where test is the value from the initial web link above)

I hope this makes sense.

So, if I understand you right, you want to send all clicks to a certain page, and have that page interpret to which page a given user should be sent? If that's right, then yes, this is a basic question:

<%
select case request("test")
case "1"
   response.redirect "anotherPage.asp?id=test"
case "2"
   response.redirect "aThirdPage.asp?id=mark"
case else
   response.redirect "default.asp?test="&request("test")
end select
%>

Thanks, I wasn't after a redirect (but it maybe be an option to consider), but to manage the a link on the page (and if I get that working, maybe content/images downloaded using the send value).

So on a second page you want the link to say

<a href="anotherPage.asp?test=<%=request("test")%>">Next Page</a>

? Is that right?
