Ajax - messed with normal properties

Ok, so ASP.NET still does not have functionality like products should have like mask edit, control interrelationships etc..(considering things like this have been around since before many of you were born). so I added Ajax hoping to gain some of the functionality that SHOULD be in a product this old.
Now when I review a pre-existing website and touch a control in source, the properties panel is empty, whereas it used to show before Ajax. So now to extract Ajax and start over again. Reset all setting does nothing. Some things in Microsoft never change. Perhaps there is a setting that needs to be reset. But then again, that is what reset all settings is supposed to do, one would think. Dear Redmond...learn from your mistakes and move this product forward. Please!
