How restrict repeated addition of same record

I want to restrict the continous addition of same record in a database using Access and ASP.how to check?
all same field values should not repeat again in the database how to do?

i think there is no option to do so for all the fields. if u r using a datagrid in ur page then u can make an alternative for this.

you can check and see if the record is in the DB before adding it... select whatever from wherever where col = 'whatever'

if recordset.eof then its not in there else it is in there.

I was also having the same idea which u said that defiantely worksout.

Anyother tricks simple tricks are there?any one can share your experience
