Having a proble with onclick event and form validation

Thanks again Chris for your help with the javascript to validate my asp form.

the javascript code for 'validate' is in place on same page and I even tried to launch a prompt saying "hello" at begininng of javascript function to see if it is even getting their.

Is the syntax correct below?
There is no submit button but an image to click.

<input type="image" border="0" name="imagebut" src=http://www.myhost.com/images/submit.gif onclick="return validate(loadform,'process.asp');">

this line below is the input for userphone which I set as a mandatory field so i would assume a message would pop up, but it seems like the onclick event is not getting fired.

<input name="userphone" size="30" mandatory="true">

1 Please do not send HTMl on usenet.

2 There is no serverside ASP subject or question, so please ask a
clientside javascript NG.
