Calender Availability Chart for yachts during 12 month period

Hi Everyone,

I would really appreciate some thoughts on how best to tackle an
availability calender in ASP for our yacht fleet.

I need to be able to show the booking STATUS of a particular YACHT during a
calender MONTH as well as its LOCATION

I have attached a screenshot of an existing system that does this - see
here:

http://www.catamarans.com/images/scr...t/calender.gif

It shows the status of the yacht during a particular month and the LOCATION
(eg TT = Tortola) which could be:

1. A booked period
2. A tentative booking - needs to be confirmed
3. A cancellation
4. A maintenance period

DATABASE
My solution would have to be .COM free and work in pure ASP (classic).....I
obviously require a secure database.

I am thinking the database should consist of the following tables:

Table: Yachts
YachtID
YachtName

Table: Location
LocationID
LocationName

Table: Status
StatusID
StatusName

Table: Month
MonthID
MonthName

Table: Year
YearID
YearName

PROGRAMMING
I am still working out the permuations but I am debating whether to use a
..GIF to scale the colours according to the booked period and its status....I
am not exactly
sure how to achieve this though - any ideas - the LOCATION would have to be
overlayed over the period block for visual purposes....I am reluctant to use
too much DHTL or floating divs....I would like to keep this application
robust and simple....I

Any further thoughts, hints, suggesitons - very much appreciated.

Regards
Jason
