How do i handle a subtraction between 2 entries in a table in asp?

How do i handle a subtraction between 2 entries in a table? they each belong to 2 tables. my code is below. I wish to subtract ordereditems_quantity from product_stock but i have no idea how to do it in asp. pls advise.

sqlString="SELECT * FROM products, ordereditems "
sqlString = sqlString & "WHERE product_id=ordereditems_productID"

RS.OPEN sqlString

product_stock = RS( "product_stock" )
ordereditems_quantity = RS( "ordereditems_quantity" )

SELECT
a.Product_ID,
a.Product_Stock - b.OrderEditItems_Quantity AS ItemsRemaining
FROM
Products AS a
INNER JOIN
OrderItems AS b
ON
a.Product_ID = b.ordereditems_productID

Don't use SELECT *
