something broke with IIS 6

Hello all.

I am now experimenting with IIS 6 after a dreafull bout with sun
Chilisoft ASP. I have the server running and it parses simple ASP pages
like expected. However, I use to be able to query the global catalog to
list all the groups in an ou with the ADODB.Command object with the
following type of string

<GC://ou=myOU,dc=example,dc=com>;(&(objectCategory=group )(objectClass=group)
(CN=*));sAMAccountName, distinguishedName, CN;subtree"

but now I get this error showing up on the page

"Active Directory error '80040e37'
An invalid directory pathname was passed

/admin/make_group.asp, line 179"

what kills me is that this very same script works perfectly well on my old
server. There seems to be only a few possibilities here.

1. The ADSI interface has changed

2. My server does not have the appropriate permission (I am using the
default website).

I'm not looking for a full answer here just maybe a suggestion as to what
some may think is happening.

I also wanted to add that I don't mind re-writing the pages entirely if
there is some usefull information out there as to what objects/methods I
should use. Basically what I have in place now allows users to create their
own limited accounts within the domain and also lets administrators
modify/delete properties for user accounts. The script also creates the
user's home share on a remote file server and sets the right permissions
with xcacls.

I know it's a tall order but this needs to be in place by september so I
have some time to experiment.

How about showing us the code at line 179 and what makes it up? Also,
do a Response.Write on your string to make sure what you're sending is
what you intended.

FWIW, there was an error in W2K where the LDAP name had a slash in it.
Had a friend at another organization tied up for weeks trying to track
his errors until Microsoft sorted it out with a hotfix:
