File copy issue

Greetings,

I can log into the server, run the asp page and make the following
test code work, but if I log onto a workstation and run the same asp
page, I don't get an error, but the file copy doesn't work. I have
anonymous turned off because I record LOGON_USER as the clerk in the
site when the user processes orders. Why would this work running
directly from the server but not from a workstation? Thanks.

<%
dim fs,f
set fs=Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject ")
set f=fs.GetFile("\\mainserver\test.txt")
f.Copy "\\webserver\new_test.txt",true
set f=nothing
set fs=nothing
%>

Are you using a different user account on the workstations than you used to
login to the server for testing?

If so it's probably a user permission related problem. With anonymous
turned off, every user calling that ASP page needs to have sufficient system
rights to copy that file because the users permissions will be applied to
the ASP page (IUSR_webserver user isn't used).

Your NTFS file system permissions are not correct.

Hi Phillip,

The folder has "modify". Is there something deeper I need to be doing
with the permissions? In IIS 6 I right click on the folder, permissions
and set it to modify. Is there something else I need to be doing? If
my permissions are not correct, do you have a suggestion of what they
should be?

P.S. I am using the same username and password for the workstation and
the server. Thanks.

"Modify" should work, make sure the accounts are correct. Watch out for
Local vs Domain account issues,...you want it to be the Domain Account for
the user. Watch out for Share Permissions vs Security Permissions, they are
not the same thing. Then make sure from the workstation that you are logged
into the Domain and not just Locally.

The IIS server and the workstation must be Domain Members for this to work
(I was assuming they were).

I don't know what to tell if that doesn't work.
