I downloaded sample code and start hacking it away using a plain
editor. Now I want to use VID but can't figure out how to make a
project while preserving the existing structure under ./wwwroot.
VID offers me to create a project by connecting to an existing
application, but nothings shows up (I just drop the sources under a
subfolder of ./wwwroot).
I could open and work on individual files but I want to have a project
associated with them. I am new to VID. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks.
You'll have to enable FrontPage Server Extensions on your app subfolder. In
IIS MMC snap-in, right click the subfolder and select "Configure Server
Extensions". Follow the instructions (you may select the same administrator
as the root web) and you're ready.
Visual Interdev uses FrontPage Server Extensions to communicate with the web
server you're modifying. You must have them installed on your web server
using either Windows 2000 install CD or MS Office 2000 CD. Afterwards you'll
be able to open an existing project in VID. You can give your project the
name you want but the application name will that will be listed be the one
you'll have given to the FrontPage assistant.
That's all there is to say about that.
Hope this helps.
