Event ID 4000 + CDONTS

We have been using CDONTS with IIS 5.0-Win2K for more than a year now
without any problems. Recently our exchange server ran into some problems
and the information store needed to be rebuilt. Additionally, our gateway
router went down and was replaced and reconfigured. It was at about this
time that our web forms stopped working. We use CDONTS with the IIS SMTP
service. The mail appears to be getting stuck in the queue folder under the
mailroot directory. Additionally the event service is showing a log to
event id 4000 errors. I have looked at several posts on the internet about
this particular issue, but have still not determined the exact reason why
CDONTS quit working...... Does anyone have an idea?

If the messages are getting to the queue folder then CDONTS is working (you
should recode to use CDO in the future however, CDONTS is obselete). There
is probably something wrong in the SMTP configuration that is preventing the
local SMTP service from sending the messages.
