ASP ORACLE Connectivty issues

Hi,
I was devloping on a remote corporate web server(MS XP) building webapps using simple asp. I then moved the code to my desktop(MS 2000) which also has a webserver and encountered connectivity errors. This is connecting to Oracle (9.2 on a solaris sparc 5.8) using MSDAORA. As far as I can tell both the remote webserver and the desktop use the same tnsnames file (on the lan). The databases being accessed are remote to both webservers.

Initially I tried these connection strings on the remote server
1. strConnect = "Driver={Microsoft ODBC for Oracle}; CONNECTSTRING=dbname; uid=userid;pwd=password;"

2. strConnect = "Provider= MSDAORA; Data Source=dbname; User id=Userid; password=password"

3. strConnect = "Provider= MS REMOTE; Remote_Provider =MSDAORA Data Source=dbname; remote server= IP; User id= userid; password= password"

4. strConnect = "Provider= MS REMOTE; Remote_Provider =MSDAORA Data Source= dbname; User id= userid; password= password"

I use the following code to connect and execute a query:

1 and 2 work on the remote server
3 connects but gets the following error on objCommand.execute:
Error Type:
Microsoft ADO/RDS (0x800A1003)
Cannot connect to server.

4 connects but gets a different errro on objCommand.execute
Error Type:
RDSServer.DataFactory (0x80070005)
RDS Server Error: The server has denied access to the default RDS Handler used to access this page. See the Server Administrator for more information about server security settings.

On theDesktop none of them work:
1 cannot connect
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
2 cannot connect
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle (0x80004005)
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
3 DOES COnnect but at objCommand.execute is loses connection

Cannot connect to server.
4 Connects but at objCommand.execute

Tha above connection string works fine windows 2003 server when the sqlnet.ora removed from the oracle folder and service pack 2 of win2k3 is installed on that machine. install service pack2 and restart the machine
