Array Problem

CODE:
LinkCount=0
ClmCount=0
for each ofield in rs.fields
response.write ofield.name & "<br>"
if ofield.name = strLinkedColumn(LinkCount) Then
redim preserve eClmCount(LinkCount)
eClmCount(Linkcount) = ClmCount
LinkCount=LinkCount+1
end if
ClmCount=ClmCount+1
next

eClmCount keeps getting populated even when to me it appears that it should
stop based on the if/then logic I have.
Any idea why my if/then would keep firing even when the array
strLinkedColumn doesn't match the ofield.name?

I'm not getting errors.

Well I found a "fix" for the problem I was having, but I still have a
question as to why my first method didn't work. I am still basically
checking to see if a field name was equal to an element in an array.

Original Code:
LinkCount=0
ClmCount=0
for each ofield in rs.fields
response.write ofield.name & "<br>"
if ofield.name = strLinkedColumn(LinkCount) Then
redim preserve eClmNumber(LinkCount)
eClmNumber(Linkcount) = ClmCount
LinkCount=LinkCount+1
end if
ClmCount=ClmCount+1
next

Changed Code:
LinkCount=0
ClmCount=0
for each ofield in rs.fields
response.write ofield.name & "<br>"
cClmName = strLinkedColumn(LinkCount)
if ofield.name = cClmName Then 'why wouldn't checking via the original
array not work here?
redim preserve eClmNumber(LinkCount)
eClmNumber(Linkcount) = ClmCount
LinkCount=LinkCount+1
end if
ClmCount=ClmCount+1
next

What if you used cstr() in your original?

if cstr(ofield.name) = cstr(strLinkedColumn(LinkCount)) Then

Well I just checked using cstr and I was still getting the results I got
before my change. Thanks for your thoughts Randy
