Postback and dropdownlist Problems

on my webform i have 2 dropdownlist....
when the page loads the first list is populated...
depending on the item selected from it the second dropdownlist is also populated..
i have postback set to True for first list and false for the second list...
on page load i have if Page.Ispostback then it loads the first and then loads the second... This much works correctly..

The Problem..
When i click a button to find its other correct related values.. it finds them and displays them on the page... BUT the second dropdownlist changes back to its orginal first value... not the one that the user has selected...
how do i fix this??

Please help me... thanks
