IIS server side script question

I'm very new at web programming, but I was working through an example from
Beginning VB.net and hit a wall. In the example, you setup 2 text boxes and
2 pushbuttons. All that happens is the text in the boxes changes when you
hit the pushbuttons, but one runs on the client, the other on the server.

I can get the client to fine, it's the server that isn't running. I'm
running IIS local on my machine, but I don't know if I have something
screwed up or not. I've modified the controls to be server-side controls and
then:
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As
System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

'Put user code to initialize the page here

txtServerTextField.Value = "Clik the button ==>"

End Sub

Private Sub btnServerButton_ServerClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal
e As System.EventArgs)

txtServerTextField.Value = "Server-Side processing performed"

End Sub

So you see it doesn't do much but when I open the browser, the "Clik the
button ==>" isn't showing nor does it change when I click the pushbutton.

Have I got something configured incorrectly?

I'd suggest a DotNet group...this one is ASP (classic) not .NET
