How can I build my own File Transfer Manager?

I was downloading from the MSDN subscription site and
used the File Transfer Manager, and was wondering if that
was something I could use for my site? Is there an API
that allows me to build this functionality into my
website? My problem is that I have a site that has
hundreds of files on it, and my customers would like to
select 5 or 6 of them and queue them up to download.

Is this possible?

The File Transfer Manager is pretty cool, and I've looked for info on it but
have been unsuccessful.

You probably noticed that you had to approve the installation of it. That's
what you'll end up having to do, create an activex component, or standalone
program, that will manage the downloads for you.

Hello Steve,

I suggest you take a look at Windows XP Background Intelligent Transfer
Service (BITS), which is just what Windows Update does in Microsoft Windows
XP. By using it, you could download fixes and updates without impacting the
user experience in any way.

MSDN article: "Using Windows XP Background Intelligent Transfer Service
(BITS) with Visual Studio .NET"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...us/dnwxp/html/
winxp_bits.asp

Hope it helps.

Best regards,
