The path "http://localhost/wwwroot/file.asp" references the local computer, that is the computer on which the browser is running.

It is reasonably certain that virtually none of these computers will be running a webserver and even if they are it is unlikely that they will have the correct file and location on them.

You should be accessing a file that is on the server of your web host, the string "/file.asp" should do it, of course you will need to upload this file to your web host as well and your web host will have to support asp.
