Without your stating the type of db and db-engine,
this is not exactly answerable.

try:

UPDATE myTable
SET columnText = 'blah'
WHERE columnHow = 'yes' or columnHow = 'maybe'

try:

DELETE FROM myTable
WHERE columnHow = 'crap'
