Which reporting tool goes well is ASP

Hi,
I am building a ASP financial reporting application. Here the user inputs
quarterly financial information. The data obtained is being used for
uploading a separate in-house application. The end-user should be in a
postion to run reports on their own based on the quarterly information they
furnish via the web applciation.

My question here is what is the best way to devleop reports in the asp
applications so that users can view their own report online? Somebody
suggested pure html reports. However, I believe there should be better ones
which would be web based. Any asdvise is highly appreciated. Thanks.

depends on what you need.
DataDynamica (www.DataDynamics.com) had lots of nice stuff.
ChartFX has good stuff.
There is always Crystal Reports too. Pick up MSDN Magazine and browse
through it... you'll find TONS of ads for tools.

Thanks for your asvise Curt. I appreciate it. I am not a subscriber of MSDN

Thanks. Regards.

Most definitely...
The magazine has tons of great product ads. While more and more are geared
towards ASP.NET, or just .NET in general, you will still get the
manufactures of these tools. Go to their sites, you will see that many still
have ASP components and tools.

My question here is what is the best way to devleop reports in the asp
applications so that users can view their own report online? Somebody
suggested pure html reports. That's the most common by far. A close second (in the Microsoft world)
is to write ASP pages (that output pure HTML).
However, I believe there should be better ones
which would be web based.

What do you want to achieve that cannot be achieved with HTML?

As always, if your boss wants you to use Microsoft's SQL Server Reports
(or Oracle's Report Builder or whatever) then you should do so.
