Reporting Capabilities in ASP.NET and .NET in general

I am doing some research into the reporting capabilities provided by
..NET by itself and also integration with other programs such as
Crystal Reports or thrid party tools. I don't have much experience
with .NET technologies but most of the reports will be requested
through the web and produced via VB components with a SQL 2k backend.
I am looking for reports either in xls or pdf format and mostly they
will be data intensive i.e. no graphics such as bar or pie charts etc.

I am looking for a starting point and wanted some feedback from people
who have had experience in doing stuff similar to what i am looking
for.

Thanks,
Mohammad S Khan

Well, you're looking in the wrong place. There was no way for you to know
it, but this is a classic asp newsgroup.
While you may be lucky enough to find a dotnet-savvy person here who can
answer your question, you can eliminate the luck factor by posting your
question to a group where those dotnet-savvy people hang out. I suggest
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.aspnet.

We sell a reporting product that uses Microsoft Access to create pdf or
excel files
on the server and works with a simple COM component to interact with asp or
asp.net pages.

Similiar to Crystal reports web reporting except uses Access report designer
to create reports
using pass thru queries that execute sql server stored procs or views.
