Dropdown with large amount of data in ASP

Hi All

I am using couple of dropdowns on a form which pulls data from one of our
tables.

The data list is quite large (500+) and it takes users a lot of time to find
the correct item. Users are getting quite frustrated using the dropdowns as
they have to scroll for a long time.

Can anyone suggest a better way to accomplish this?

Regards

Maybe you can break up the dropdowns by Alfabet

DROPDOWN A-D
DROPDOWN E - H
etc...

It's not an ASP issue, it's a user interface and maybe data layout
issue. Either don't pull out so much to display to users or display
it in chunks. Even a hierarchal organization would help, drill down
by manufacturer, then model number for instance.

On a side note, this is almost always designed instinctively if you
choose the database layout appropriately. The proper choice of an
item's attributes will determine the columns, which can be sorted,
displayed or queried appropriately.
