The IIS user account (default name is IUSR_<machine name>) has to have read
access to the files in the web site in order for IIS to serve the pages. You
will need to modify the permissions in NTFS.

I want to give users the power to edit files from an easy interface, so I create a form and a PHP script called "fileUpdate". It does a reasonable about of error checking and prints out some errors. It uses fileperms() to get the permissions of the file, and it includes that info in any error message. Today I'm getting the following error message. I've used SmartFtp to go in and set the test file's permissions to 777, but in this error...

We're running windows 2000 server with IIS 5.0. We're trying to execute .asp scripts but we keep getting the 500 (internal server) error. It looks like the permissions might be corrupted. When I go to the folder in question, go to properties >> security and look at the user groups, for several seconds they say this: S-1-1-0

I am wondering if anyone can help me out with this one. Here goes....... I have my local machine (Windows XP framework 1.1) and a Server (Windows 2003 framework 1.1). When I go to run my code on my box and late bind to a dll on the server machine I get an error. Below is the lines of code and the error I get. I just reinstalled .NET 2003 (after repeated attempts to get ASP.NET Web Applications to work). I first did a complete uninstall of .NET 2003, .NET Framework 1.1, and IIS. I also completely deleted c:\inetpub\wwwroot and rebooted before reinstalling. I created a new virtual directory from within IIS (e.g. MyWebTest). Then I tried to create a new Visual C# ASP.NET Web Application pointing to the location http://localhost/MyWebTest. I get...

Has anyone else come across this? We are building an ASP.Net application that uses a certficate in the local machine store to sign XML data before transmitting it to a third-party. The third party application was getting an "invalid signature" error upon verification of the signature in our Test environments. I thought perhaps our Production (www) certificate version was being used instead, so I exported it from the Production server and...

Hi I have posted this in the microsoft.public.frontpage newsgroups. Since it involves both Frontpage ext. 2002 on a windows 2000 Advanced's web server, and ASP.Net (framework 1.0), I decided to post here too. So here is the post I sent on the other newsgroups, please read and tell me if you have seen this. Note: By the way, here the developers don't have the choice, they have to use FP to deploy.

Hello people, It's been a long time since I've asked any techie questions on Usenet but I am under pressure to finish a project and the following issue has me stumped. I appreciate that it's a bit long-winded but I'd be much obliged if anyone could shed any light... I am currently developing a PHP-based site for a client on IIS. It might be worth pointing out here that, from a Linux background, I am no expert on IIS or NTFS...

Please look at the "what I've already done" section of this message before responding to it: I believe that I've done everything that the people who experience this error are typically told to do. I have created an ASP.NET web service that I have running on my development machine, and am trying to get it to run on my test server. Both machines are running Windows 2000 SP4, IIS 5, and the .NET 2.0 framework. When I attempt to access...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
