On the re-boot required for critical patch KB824105 MS SQL Server failed to recgnize the log on for the account it is registered under, and all other accounts when manually cahnged. It seems to have completely lost all ability to recognize and logon. SQL is totally hooped - no ODBC at all at the service doesn't start. At all because of no recognition of any accounts. Any suggestions? I've been trying for a while.

My xmlrpc program no longer works after installing the latest .net 1.1 patch. What happens is when the xmlrpc server receives a request it tries to read the request via the XmlTextReader(). When it tries to read the xml stream via XmlTextReader() it never returns from the XmlTextReader() call. Something the patch did no longer allows XmlTextReader() to did its job. I am wondering if anybody has any information on a work around or fix? ...

running on XP pro adding vba code, I want to type in 'X = "good"' when I type the 'X', and a 'space', if I wait a second, the cursor automatically moves back over the 'space' when I type the 'X', a 'space' and the '=', if I wait a second, I get just 'X=' in red (like when you've got a syntax error) when I quickly type in 'X', '=' and '"', after a second I get 'X = ""' (making it hard to enter a string)

I have a test routine that looks at the Application, System, and Security event logs. I noticed that Vista added a new "type" of error called "Critical". However, VS 2005 doesn't list this new type in the EventLogEntryType enum. Is there some patch that updates this type definition or some other way to correctly identify a "critical" error under Vista's event logs? -- ----------- Thanks,

In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
