hi,
You need to use with javascript with an onchange event. The onchange event redirects to the asp page where it accepts the textbox values and then displays the result in the combo box or a dropdown.

Here is a SIMPLE problem that I'm trying to solve. It works in Netscape 6.2, but IE6 gives ""No such interface supported." Below are page1.htm and page2.htm . In page1.htm, there are two dropdown lists. If you change the selection of the left one (e.g. choose parentoption2), it should open up page2.htm in a popup window.

I have a database with four table. In one of the tables, I use about five lookup fields to get populate their dropdown list. I have read that lookup fields are really bad and may cause problems that are hard to find. The main problem I am having right now is that I have a report that is sorted by one of these lookup fields and it only displays the record's ID number. When I add the source table to the query it makes several records...

Hello, I've run into a potentially wrong design decision on a project and want to find out if my intended change is the best fix. I have a page that displays historical time-series data using a datagrid. The browser can modify the timeframe displayed by selecting a value from a dropdown list of 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or previous months.

Hi There, I have recently started coding in asp.net (just 2 and a half days now). I am writing a simple test app that gets data from a data base and displays the value perfectly in the drop down list. However, each display value is simply that - a display value and is pretty useless to me further down the line unless I use the value as part of a select to get the the key of the record. This would be inefficent so what I would like to...

Hi, I need to populate a dropdownlist control with values. Number of items for that list exceeds 100. I am using Html select list option. When I drop down the list control, it shows the item list to the top of the page or to the bottom of the page. So I fixed the size of that control as 5. Now the size of the list has increased to 5 & the list display size also becomes large in Length &

Hello, I am a complete newbie with VB, so this question might sound really stupid; please bear with me. My question is, can a combo box be used to display a value in the sense a label can? I have developed a piece of hardware (PIC based) that I have connected to the PC over the serial port. Now, I get time from the PIC in an HH:MM format, which I would like to display in 2 combo boxes with dropdown lists; is this possible? Try as I might,...

Hello, More questions from this newbie: I have an Application table which has Application ID and Application Name. I have another table Variable which has Variable ID, Application ID and other columns. I have a form with a dropdown list which should display the Application Names in the dropdown list. A criteria for the name to be displayed is that it should already have a record in the Variable table. I am able to display dropdown...

Hi guys, Someone once said, 'You can do that with reflection'. I can't recall what it was I was trying to do at the time, but then he said, 'Any developer knows what reflection is...'. I kept quiet and smiled. What is reflection!? I have been reading it up, and all I can work out is that it has something to do with Late Binding, and the use of GetType and Type.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
