I'm real new at this, so this may be a basic question, but I want to get off on the right foot. I thought it would be reasonable to use the following on a page: body { margin: 3em; background-color: #666; border: red medium double; padding: 3em;

Here's a problem I've never seen before. On <http://snow.prohosting.com/srcopan/anti/>, should the viewport width be less than the width of the page's header, then the right margin becomes stuck at the viewport's right edge. This is perhaps better observed than described; try it yourself at narrow viewport widths and/or high zoom levels. I...

On my Windows 2000 box printing to a LaserJet 4100TN, if I have this form with margins that I'd like to set to 0 on the left and right, Access insists on .166, left and right. Why is it when I have a DOCTYPE line in my HTML then "margin" and "padding" are ignored? This happens in both inline and stylesheet styles. It happens for both XHTML and HTML doctypes. It happens in IE6, IE7 and Firefox (didn't try any others). And when you save the page, the margin/paddings are actually REMOVED from the saved HTML file...

I've got a sidebar element that's a floating div. To the left of this div, there are p's each with a margin-right set as well as overflow: auto set (see below)). Some of the p's are of class 'subhead'. In FF2, all of these elements obediently mind the left margin of the sidebar. In IE, however, the subheads do not and run underneath the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
