Killing COM+ object instance

KK
Hi,

How to set timeout for COM+ object instance?

If any instance is running more than 15 minutes, I want COM+
application to kill the instance automatically.
Is there any way to set this?

Regards.

Hi,

I think this can be set on the application package in COM+, setting a
time-out where COM+ will shutdown the component after a certain period of
in-activity, I can't remember what activation this applies to, ie: if server
or libary package. Check out the various tabs on ur package/component,
possibly 'Activation' ??

Hello, I have written a vb.net program that invokes an Access2000 report in Preview mode, so that it shows on the screen. My program then goes on its merry way and the user can read the report and close it at his leisure. My problem is: when I run this on Win2000 and watch it with the Task Manager, I see it create a task for MSACCESS.EXE for the report. But when the user closes the report, the task does not always disappear

As part of what it does it must automate an instance of IE and navigate to many different URLs, think many thousands. Issue 1: Most of the time, these navigations succeed. All is well. But, based on early runs, from time to time, say once or twice every 24 hrs IE inexplicably hangs and the automation object hangs, gets stuck, becomes...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
