When I request a URL using urllib2, it appears that urllib2 always makes the request using HTTP 1.0, and not HTTP 1.1. I'm trying to use the "If-None-Match"/"ETag" HTTP headers to conserve bandwidth, but if I'm not mistaken, these are HTTP 1.1 headers, so I can't reasonably expect a web server to respond correctly to my requests. (In my limited testing, it looks like some servers respond correctly with an HTTP 304 status, while some...

I have a login form that uses the post method to carry the information to the next page. The form works just fine in ie6.0, but fails in mozilla and fails in ie5.2 on a mac. "HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request" was the original error msg now that I reinstalled iislockdown and urscan I get "The parameter is incorrect." If I use the get method with this form it works just fine on everything. I can't say for certain but I think this problem started...

I am using the System.Net.Webclient to try and download an XML file from a website but am receiving a HTTP protocol error when running the DownloadFile() sub routine. I did a HTTP trace using internet explorer to see what is happening in the request and it looks as though the request originates using HTTP/1.1 to an IIS server authenticates itself but ultimately gets executed by a Java Application server and when the request is fulfilled...

Hi, I have been using several http server code examples from the web, include one from msdn, and I can't seem to get a simple http server thread working. I can connect the server successful using IE6 and following url: http://127.0.0.1:5050 But when I attempt a second connect the windows symbol in the upper right corner of ie starts in motion and nothing happens it just sits there waiting for a response. The code also behaves very...

Hi, I want to login to a password protected website and fetch the content of the page behind. I have based my code on http://weblogs.asp.net/jdennany/archive/2005/04/23/403971.aspx. When I use tools like ieHTTPHeaders v1.6, and I perform a normal login (using the normal website), I see that the viewstate is __VIEWSTATE=dDwxMzU4OTE3NTA2Ozs%2BTK88jS63JXN181X3N8zKivua8co%3D&txt_username=xxx&txt_password=xxxxxx&btn_login=Login. I am programming what is to be a web service client that will use an HTTP-POST to request and retrieve data. The remote server (written in java for what it's worth) requires basic authentication as per RFC 2617 (http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2617.html). My attempts to authenticate are failing. The server requires the header to be present with the request. For security reasons, it will not reply in any way if the header is not present. ...

Hi, I have some legacy ASP web applications that use an unmanaged COM component to connect to a third party application. The third part application has moved to the managed code in the current release with backward compatibility with the unmanaged code. In the future releases, the vendor is going to drop backward compatibility and as a result of that all our legacy ASP applications will break.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
