boring compiler design

i am finding compiler design very boring coz i am not able to connet the use of this subject in the real world . To creat interest i want to know how this subject consitutes in modern computer science engineering .Why and how engineers use it ?

If so, I'm telling you that engineers could not live without compilers. And here is the reason.

Although I would have to agree, writing compilers is pretty dry and tedious. But connecting the subject matter to the real world should be instantaneously easy.

I can say this... If you can write a compiler that works, your programming ability will be "head and shoulders" above just about everyone. You have to learn and use many constructs in compiler design that are directly translatable to application design. Have fun! :-( :-)
