the sum formula form query and in form does not work properly of w

I have to calculate the Total No.of Family members in the query, it calculate correctly. but when i applied on the form it does not work. e.g if want to calculate the total number of family members in the form like that if martial status in single then only "Self" be active and other like wife, children above and below 12 would be disabled. when I select "single" from martial status the "Self" field is active and other become disable. it works correctly but when i enter "1" in the self field the total of number family members not correctly calculated and sum equal to "0" which must be equal to "1". When i select "Marrried" from dropdown list all the family information active and it enters the numbers and it show the sum correctly but in case of "self" it does not give the sum correctly. what i use in the query or form to obtain the correct sum. please help me.

Add a number field FamilyID and give everyone in the same family the same ID value. Group the aggregate query on FamilyID and count on the same field. It won't matter what the marital status is or whether someone is adopted etc
