Subtotals in Access Query

P: 4
Am trying to create SQL to subtotal by each ILDOC number. The transaction amount,field ILPAID. Both fields are type "number". I am basically just starting to trying to write formula. Thanks, John

Queries are not generally where you'd manage subtotalling John. Queries produce raw data for you. Reports and forms are where you display and maybe even manipulate the data.

It's not absolutely impossible, using DSum() etc, but it's almost always a very bad idea. Performance is badly impacted and maintenance becomes a mess. My advice, don't do it that way. Do it properly. Do it where it makes sense to.
