I want to Override the validation rule in my table using a button on the form

Hello everyone,

Sorry but I'm new to access and I was wondering if I could override my validation rule of Is Not Null in my clients name field.

In a situation where I input names in my form and decide to delete it by backspacing in that field, can I just initiate a macro that would delete the entry before its even entered and override the validation rule? This is because whenever I press the delete button ( separate macro i added), my validation text keeps prompting me to input data into the clients name field therefore i needs me to have some sort of data in that field.

Sorry if this is confusing but i hope someone can help me. All advice is deeply appreciated :D

Have a think about what you actually want. Do you really want to enter a new record with no name? Or do you want to cancel the entering of a new record completely?

I suspect the second option is the right one. That means what you're asking for is not what you want. You want to use the <ESC> key to cancel input rather than deleting any data entered into the field already.
