Can't add a new field in my database table

I have 4 linked tables linking to two different databases.. I added a new field to my table database with no problem. I backed out of the database and went back into the table and tried to add another new field but this time it is greyed out and won't let me. I can still add new fields to my other 3 linked tables but for some reason I now lost this one table to add a new field. Any suggestions?
